News was received early on Thursday, May 25 that Dr. Yung Chul Han, a well-known Church of God leader, passed away following complications from a fall and diabetes.
At the time of his death, Dr. Han was serving as a member of the International Executive Council of the Church of God as one of three elected international representatives. It was his seventh term on the Council, having served more than a dozen years. His current title of ministry was coordinator of Korean Ministries for the Church of God. Han was a former overseer of Korea and he founded and is a past president of Han Young Theological University in Seoul.Han held degrees from Lee University, Korea University, Church of God Theological Seminary and Northwest Bible College. He had also served as a pastor of four congregations in Korea dating back to 1963.
Dr. Han also made his mark as a leader in the evangelical world. He was president of the Conservative Churches Association of Korea, past president of the Korea Evangelical Theological Society and he was an advisory member of the Pentecostal World Conference. In 1998, he was instrumental in coordination of the Pentecostal World Conference held in Seoul. His honors in the Church of God include recipient of the Distinguished Educator's Award and a member of the Hall of Prophets and distinguished alumnus award from the Church of God Theological Seminary. Dr. Han is survived by his wife, Chong-Im, his son, Dr. Sang-Ehil Han, son Sang-Min and daughter Sang-Yeon. At this time the funeral arrangements have not been completed. The funeral arrangements for Dr. Yung Chul Han have been completed and are as follows: Viewing will be Friday, May 26, thru Sunday, May 28, from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm each day in the chapel of the Ewha Woman's University Mokdong Hospital. A phone number for the hospital is 011-82-2-2650-5121.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 29, at 10:00 am at the Han Young Theological University Chapel. Contact information for the University is as follows:
